Simply Enough
(11/12/09)For the last several weeks you have been invited to take a serious look at your personal finances and stewardship through a weekly bulletin insert series under the theme Simply Enough. If you have missed them, you can view online from the links below or pick up extra copies in the welcome center. This series helps you as a family take a look at your attitudes about money, wealth, possessions, and how they relate to your relationship with God, as followers of Christ.
The message behind Simply Enough is not that money, wealth, or possessions are 'bad'. Similarly, the purpose of the series is not designed to be judgmental, or make one feel guilty. Rather, Simply Enough is intended to help you and your family rediscover the Bible's wisdom concerning prudent financial practices - in a nutshell, to find the keys to experiencing contentment, overcoming fear, and finding joy through simplicity and generosity.
This week, each household should receive a stewardship letter, along with a card and envelope for your planned response for giving to the mission and ministries of Peace Lutheran Church in 2010. Pastor John, members of the Stewardship and Finance teams, and members of our Leadership Council, each ask that you pray for guidance and discernment, and even in what are uncertain times, plan to give generously.
We will be collecting these cards at worship next weekend, November 14th-15th, and will consecrate our gifts as part of our worship celebrations at that time. You may chose to take more time for discernment, and we only ask that you do consider returning an Estimate of Giving card, even if you do not pledge an amount, that we may plan the budget for 2010 appropriately.
