how do I join Peace?
You are invited to participate in one of these courses:
FaithWalk
FaithWalk invites people on a journey to love God, to love one another, to grow in Christ, and to go in Christ. It is a 3 session course offered 4-6 times each year, especially for prospective members of Peace. The course provides opportunities to learn about and discuss our congregational mission, our faith traditions, our understanding of and commitment to spiritual growth, and how to discover and serve out of our God-given gifts. This course is intended for people who already have a Christian background and have participated in a church in their adult lives.
Basics of the Christian Faith
This course is intended for: people who are new to the Christian faith; or people who are exploring what the Christian faith is about; or people who have a Christian background but have not been involved in a church for several years. This four-session course (75-90 minute sessions over 4 weeks) intends to explore what it means to be a follower of Jesus. The course will make use of readings, video pieces, and group discussion as it addresses important questions, including: How Can I Know God? Who Is Jesus? How Do I Become a Christian? How Do I Grow as a Christian? What's the Purpose of the Church? What is My Life Purpose?
New Member
Upon completion of the FaithWalk course, you will be ready to become a member of Peace Lutheran Church. If you have not yet been baptized, we will arrange for that. If you have an active membership in another church, we'd be happy to send a letter of transfer on your behalf. If you are not ready to join the congregation, we invite you to continue to participate in the life and mission of Peace as you are able.
We usually welcome new members into Peace in small groups at a weekend worship service. You will be invited to come forward, and in response to the pastor's questions, state your intention to join with Peace in its life and mission. After being introduced to the other worshipers, you'll return to your seat. On that day you'll receive a new member packet, containing address and pictorial directories, an annual report, a pledge card, offering envelopes, new member information forms, a Small Catechism, and the Augsburg Confession, among other things. New members also receive a mailbox at the church, and a subscription to the Lutheran magazine at their home address.
Thank you for your interest in Peace Lutheran Church. Please let me know how I can be of further help. Contact me by phone
